Ehecatl
the wind that clears the road, breath of the world
airEhecatl is the wind, the sweeping breath that goes before the rains and stirs the still, dead air into motion; to dream of him is to feel a soft pressure at your back, the sense that something long stagnant in you is finally free to move and be swept clean.

Before the first rain the whole sky holds its breath, and then he comes running low across the maize, and every leaf leans and shivers to let him pass.
He wears a red duck-billed mask through which he blows the four winds, and round temples were raised to him so no corner would ever break the turning of his breath.
