Elsewhere nakedness is power rather than loss. Ame-no-Uzume dances half-undressed outside the cave where the sun goddess is hiding, and the gods laugh so loudly that Amaterasu comes out to see — the world gets its light back because someone was willing to be undignified. Myth keeps both readings: stripped of protection, and free of it.
