Kronos

the harvest king who devours his hours

earth

Kronos overthrew his father with a sickle and swallowed his children to keep his throne, until time itself undid him; to dream of him is to feel the weight of all you try to hold against change, and how it must, at last, be given up.

Fragments

In the golden age he ruled before shame and toil, when the earth gave its fruit unasked and no one counted the passing hours, and even now some dream of returning there.

He swallowed each of his children whole rather than lose his crown, and for years he sat crowned and alone above a silence he had made himself, listening for footsteps.
