Nyx

the night that mothers the gods

aether

Nyx is primordial Night, born of Chaos, whom even Zeus fears to cross; to dream of her is to be held in the dark before anything was named, and to trust that the unmade is not the same as the lost.

Fragments

She came before the light and will remain when it gutters. The old gods lower their eyes when she passes, for she was already ancient when they were young.

From her dark house at the world's edge she looses her children each evening: Sleep, and Death, and Dreams, and gentle Blame, who wander out across the sleeping earth.
