Hypnos
Greek

Hypnos

gentle god of sleep

To dream of sleep within sleep is to long for rest you have denied yourself; Hypnos rules the soft surrender the waking mind resists.

Fragments

Hypnos keeps a cave no sun has ever touched, where the river of forgetting murmurs at the door; even Zeus has bowed beneath his quiet hand.

He asks only that you stop holding the day so tightly. Open your hand in the dark, and he sets a poppy in your palm.
