A British Museum drawing attributed to Hokusai depicts the Chinese archer Hou Yi shooting at the extra suns whose heat endangered the world. The museum identifies it as a preparatory image of a specific legendary feat. Here archery is framed as corrective precision against excess, not as a timeless rule for interpreting every arrow.
In the opening of Homer's Iliad, Apollo descends with bow and quiver after a priest's appeal, and his arrows bring pestilence into the Greek camp. This ancient poetic episode gives the arrow reach, divine anger, and collective consequence; it belongs to that narrative and should not turn a modern dream into an omen of punishment or illness.
