Perun

the thunderer, lord of the oak

fire

Perun hurled his axe and flint arrows across the sky at the serpent coiled below; to dream of him is to feel a storm gathering in you, and to know which enemy you have been circling for too long.

Fragments

His axe, once thrown, always circles home to his hand; mortals nail its likeness above the door so no bolt will find the hearth within.

High on the oak's crown he keeps his forge of flint, and each spring the first thunder wakes the sleeping world and splits winter open like a green husk.
