Olokun

the unknowable deep of the sea

water

Olokun rules the ocean's bottomless depths, half-known, keeper of secrets and drowned wealth; to dream of dark water with no floor is to face the parts of yourself too deep to see, and to learn they are not your enemy.

No one living has seen the whole of that face; sailors say the sea is calmest just above the place where it is deepest.

Chained to the sea-floor so the waters cannot rise and swallow the land again, Olokun broods over everything the ocean has taken and never given back.
