Sleipnir

the eight-legged steed between worlds

air

Odin rides Sleipnir down the road to the land of the dead and home again; the grey horse with eight legs crosses any border, waking or sleeping. To dream of riding is to be carried somewhere your walking self could never reach.

Fragments

Loki, in the shape of a mare, bore this foal to a giant's stallion; the strangest horse in the nine worlds has the strangest mother of all.

His hoofbeats fall on air, on water, on the roof of the underworld all the same; no gate is ever closed to the one who rides him.
