Persephone
the maiden who reigns in two worlds
earthPersephone was carried below and now rules the dead half the year, returning each spring; to dream of her is to learn that descent is not the end of you, and that what winters underground will rise again wearing your face.

Six pomegranate seeds tasted in the dark bound her forever half to the world below; now she wears the crown of the dead and the crown of the flowering earth by turns.
When she climbs the long stair back to daylight, the frost breaks and the meadows open; and when she descends again, the earth remembers her and quietly folds inward to wait.
