Dreaming of a dragon

Dragons in dreams concentrate awe: fear, strength, guardianship, the treasure under the mountain. A menacing dragon can mirror a power you feel threatened by; a calm or guiding one, a power you're learning to befriend — perhaps your own.

In the west the dragon hoards; in the east it blesses — the dragon king governs rain and seas, and the first creators wore serpent-dragon bodies when they made humankind. If a dragon coils through your dream, ask what great thing in you wants to be respected rather than slain.

Gods of this dream
Ryūjin
the dragon-king, tide-holder of the deep palace
Tiamat
the salt sea, mother of all
Jörmungandr
the serpent that circles the world
Nüwa
the mother who mended the sky

Dream meanings are reflective, not medical or predictive. If a dream troubles you often, be gentle with yourself — and talk to someone you trust.
